Fix the process before you automate it

Automating a broken process just breaks it faster.

Before you buy a CRM, an ERP or custom software, it pays to know exactly how work moves through your business today: who does what, where it waits, where it's retyped and where mistakes creep in. We map your key processes with the people who run them, find the bottlenecks and control gaps, and give you a prioritised plan for what to fix, automate or replace, and roughly what each change is worth.

What we look at

Typical processes: lead to order, order to cash, procure to pay, hire to onboard, ticket to resolution, and month-end close.

How a process review runs

  1. Choose the processes that cost the most time, money or risk.
  2. Map the current state with the people who do the work, not just their managers: every step, hand-off, system and spreadsheet.
  3. Measure: volumes, time taken, error and rework rates, and where approvals wait.
  4. Find the gaps: bottlenecks, duplicate data entry, missing controls (no maker-checker on payments, for example), and single points of failure.
  5. Design the future state: simpler steps first, then automation where it pays.
  6. Prioritise: a roadmap ranked by impact and effort, with a recommendation for each item (fix the process, configure an existing tool, automate, or build).

What you receive

  • Current-state and future-state process maps.
  • A findings list with the evidence behind each finding.
  • A prioritised roadmap, with requirements for the first projects detailed enough to quote.
  • A recommendation on tools, independent of whether Orgits implements them.

Why start here

A review is the cheapest part of any transformation, and it stops the most expensive mistake: paying to automate the wrong thing. And because our team also implements software and audits controls, the recommendations are practical to deliver and sound from a control point of view.

Frequently asked questions

[1]Do we have to use Orgits for the implementation?

No. The roadmap is yours. Many clients do continue with us, but the recommendations don't depend on it.

[2]How much of our team's time will it take?

A few hours from each process owner for interviews and workshops, plus access to the systems and documents involved.

[3]Is this the same as an IS audit?

No. A process review improves how work flows. An IS audit tests IT controls against a standard such as the RBI Master Direction. We can do both, and they inform each other.
